Our travels today took us from north from Iowa into Minnesota. We then took a hard left and headed west into South Dakota.

Our first stop was at Palisades State Park in Garretson, SD. The park features hikes around the Split Rock creek featuring cliffs and rock formations eroded out of pink Sioux Quartzite.
This was our first experience of some real heat this summer – it was pleasant enough in the shade but we all got sweaty doing the loop hikes and were happy to retreat back into the car for some a/c.

We finished our day early in Sioux Falls – taking time to actually visit the waterfalls and park.

After that it was to the hotel early to get some laundry done, order dinner, walk across the street for evening Starbucks coffee and treat and turn in.
