No problems with travel today – we needed to head south up and over several mountain ranges of southern WY, eastern UT and down the spine of western Colorado.
First was a pit stop to stretch our legs and empty the tanks. Short trail walking along the Green river at Flaming Gorge Dam.

There’s a boat down in the river for scale. We stopped for a half mile hike along the cliff line.
On to the Quarry Visitor Center in Dinosaur National Monument. In 1907 they discovered more than 1500 dinosaur bones accumulated on this hillside. They built a center around the find.
You can see and touch the dinosaur bones that are still embedded in the rock. These bones had accumulated here over tens of millions of years when this area was a swampy river delta. They stacked up and created a bit of a natural dam that was eventually covered in sediment and petrified over the eons.

After that, we headed deeper into the park in less traveled areas to go Petroglyph hunting.
Ancient precursors to the Ute and Uintah Indians made these marks – some are estimated to be 10,000 years old. The one we hiked up to were estimated to be 700-1700 years old.

Winston parked himself in the shade whenever possible.
The trails went on and on and Brenda was ready to keep going, but we had a schedule to keep and so we turned back and headed south. We finished up in Grand Junction tonight and will continue south tomorrow.
