The previous day’s storms had blown through and we had nothing but sunny skies today.

We did get in a good up-and-down-the-beach walk this morning before breakfast and then it was back in the car to head north. 
Our goal for the day was to get to Columbia, MD in order to pick up Holden right after he got off work.  It was only a 4 hour drive to his apartment so we had some time to stop and visit George Washington’s Mount Vernon along the way.

Washington’s mansion.. And they’re setting up a stage and seats for some 4th of July celebration this weekend.

With a dog we could access everything save the interior of the mansion.  That suited the girls who were more interested in the gardens and surrounding property.

The had some re-enactors set up throughout the grounds performing various cooking, cleaning and tending tasks.  This guy was recruiting for the militia.
