Today is Monday.. I had some work meetings in the morning in the central part of town. I was able to finish up around noon and race back to our hotel to head out for some fun in the final afternoon of our trip.

Today is also our wedding anniversary… 29 years.

We toured Teotihuacan, located about an hour out of the city. This is the site of an ancient city with remaining pyramids, avenues and other important stone structures. The civilization that created Teotihuacan run from about 100BC to around 700AD. At its zenith, around 350AD the city comprised of over 18 square kilometers, 2000 buildings and a population of 125,000 – making it the largest city in the western hemisphere. These folks pre-dated the Toltecs, Mexica (Aztecs) and Maya by almost 1000 years.

Back side of the Pyramid of the Sun. This structure is about 235 feet tall – larger than those at Chichen Itza or Tikal but still only a little more than half the height of the pyramids in Egypt.

There isn’t much left preserved save a few murals and some carvings and chambers that surround the greater pyramid plazas.
