This morning we took a high speed train (185mph) from Taipei down to Tainan, near the southern end of Taiwan.  It only took about 2 hours to make the journey.

We got on the first stop; the car was full before leaving Taipei.

It is hot and humid here.. Temps in the mid 80’s.  The southern end of Taiwan is always quite warm.

We stopped for lunch at a place where you cook your own meat and scallops.  Pretty much all ‘Chinese’ restaurant meals are community style, regardless of quality or restaurant fanciness.

Even the guy eating alone at 20 has got plenty to keep him busy.

Another plant tour.. this time this is a factory that makes a lot of aluminum reflectors for us.. the kind that go into downlights in ceilings.  This is their anodizing line – putting a special reflective coating on aluminum parts.

Some of you might recognize the brand.. you can get these at Home Depot or Lowes.  All of this company’s product goes to the US.

Daoist temple.  I was surprise to see how many Christians live here in Taiwan.. a lot of churches and even people saying Grace before starting meals.

Walking around Tainan.  Population about 800,000.  Tainan is the oldest city on Taiwan island.  It used to be run by the Dutch in the 1600s before some Chinese warlords kicked them out. 
We didn’t have any free time today, what with the train, meetings, plant tour and lunch/dinner.  We leave Tainan this morning and start our long journey home.  I’ll probably have one more photoset from our time in Seoul if our schedule holds.
