Our final day in Rio (Sunday) before we head off to work.

It is a lot quieter out in the mornings.
Grey day, everything is grey.  It rained the night before.  We had occasional rain showers throughout the day.

The Selaron Steps (Escadaria Selarón).. 215 steps more than 140 yards up the hill.. “In 1990, Selarón began renovating dilapidated steps that ran along the front of his house. At first, neighbours mocked him for his choice of colours as he covered the steps in fragments of blue, green and yellow tiles – the colours of the Brazilian flag. It started out as a side-project to his main passion, painting, but soon became an obsession. He found he was constantly out of money, so Selarón sold paintings to fund his work. It was long and exhausting work but he continued on and eventually covered the entire set of steps in tiles, ceramics and mirrors.”

We found a couple of Georgia tiles.

Brenda headed back down carefully.

While riding in a taxi from one location to another, we found this Sunday market.. The women wanted to stop to view what was on offer.

Structures we found during hike in Tijuca National forest.

A mansion that was owned by a 1920’s Brazilian industrialist and his singer wife.  It is now converted to a museum and restaurant.

Right after lunch the skies opened up and we got drenched.  We found a streetside bar that had room and parked ourselves for an unplanned lunch until the weather improved.

Figuring out what we’re going to order and do next.

Quite by coincidence.. the name of the place was “Adam’s Bar” in Portuguese.

One of Brenda’s treasures.  She bought two oil paintings from one artist.  This guy is taking the canvas off stretchers so that Brenda can fit in oversized luggage for our trip home.

Late afternoon brought more rains.  The 4 of us met at Hotel bar for drinks and then walked to an outdoor dinner on Copacabana.  After this, some more night shopping along the beach, a gelato for dessert and then bedtime.
We have to get an early start for a long travel day tomorrow with business meetings & etc.
