Fantastic weather day.. started in the high 30’s but made it quickly up into the 60’s.

We left Florence, AL and made the short drive to the area around Savannah, TN.

Stopover in Iuka, Mississippi. There is a natural mineral springs under the city that comes to surface at several points in their city park.  We went there to give the dogs a potty break and let them drink from the fountains.

We got in a 2 mile hike that morning at the state park – and could let the dogs run free.

Quick snack before we headed off to today’s main event.

We did the full tour of Shiloh National Battlefield Park.  This was the location of a 2-day battle in April of 1862 that put U.S. Grant on the map.

We also visited the Shiloh Indian Mounds – site of a civilization 800 years ago.

Final stop before turning in was to see Savannah, TN.  This house (Cherry Mansion) was where Grant kept his HQ prior to the battle at Shiloh.  It remains a private residence.
