Seoul, South Korea 102124

Today was a travel day – the afternoon and evening were consumed with getting to the airport, through the whole process, and on to our next destination.

We did have some time in the morning to take a hike – at Gwanaksan park near Seoul University. Korea is quite mountainous and has some fantastic hiking trails with beautiful views and buddhist temples hidden away. If we ever come back, I would really like to spend a couple of extra days out of the city doing some of those hikes. For now, we packed in what we could before we had to head for the airport.

Fording the creek.

There were not many others on the trails – but those who were out and about were ALL men and women in their 70s and 80s. These seniors were serious – with all the right clothing, hiking poles, top end shoes & etc.
We got lost several times and were at their mercy (with help from Google translate) to help us find road access again so we could hail a cab before we missed our flight.

Colors!

Just in case you think we’re getting a bit too big for our britches, the photo above shows you what the Executive Lounge at China Eastern Airlines was serving their VIP guests. This is not an exaggeration for effect.
That was lunch for us. Thankfully, Donny bought some goodies from home – beef jerky and corn nuts to complement our American cheese slices and saltines.

All the big hubs in the US need some of these to take care of the folks who have long transfer layovers or get stuck due to delays. You rent a bed, with all the plug ins and features so you can relax, read, watch a show or sleep.
