This evening we toured the Myeongdong Night Market – far more active than we had assumed. The market was filled with people and food stalls in about an 8 x 8 block area of town. We could hardly make our way through the passageways.

We did settle on a traditional Korean BBQ place where the cook the various cuts of meats and vegetables on hot coals right at the table.

The next morning (Sunday) was game day for us. I was able to VPN into an ABC station in the US so that Donny and I could watch the game right after breakfast. UT was playing UGA – we are fans of both teams, but some of us are more rabid than others. In the end, the Dawgs won and Donny spent the rest of the day in a really good mood. Note the snacks we brought from home so we wouldn’t starve on all of the healthy unidentifiables they sell here!

After the game we headed to a large convention center / mall complex for lunch and some walking around. This is the Starfield Library; a real lending library that was designed to really show off their stacks.

Across the street from the mall is the Bongeunsa buddhist temple. This place was built on a hillside with numerous small structures. It was an active place with many people attending for prayers and rituals, etc so I didn’t get many photos for fear of appearing invasive.

We finished the day with a tour of the War Memorial of Korea. I’ve been here a couple of times before, but it’s always worth a return trip and is an impressive campus honoring the sacrifices made by all NATO combatants of the Korean War.

With the sun setting, we headed back to our hotel and had a light dinner in the bar with drinks and snacks and good company.
