For our extended Labor Day weekend we rented a house in a neighborhood in Baltimore, not far from the marina and waterfront attractions.

Brenda and I are taking Josie back to Rhode Island – school starts next week.  On the way, we stopped by Holden’s place in Maryland to pick him up and head to nearby Baltimore for our first visit to this city.  We have gorgeous weather this weekend and so will do as much walking and gawking as possible – with dog Winston in tow.

Our house is just left of the claw-foot tub planter on the sidewalk.  This neighborhood consists of restored row houses, all built right around the first decade of the 1900s.

Winston is not a city dog.  There is too much stimulation and things to smell and it ultimately stresses him out.  That doesn’t prevent him from wanting to head right back outside every chance he gets and take it all in.

Waiting for our breakfast bagels to be made.  Brenda has him tied up like a horse to prevent any lunging or sudden movements while others with their dogs pass by.  It seems that everyone in this city owns a dog and they’re all out this weekend walking around.

It’s an attractive, active and safe neighborhood.. which is more than one can say for a lot of Baltimore.
