The five of us flew up to Boston to enjoy some time together over the New Year’s break.

We’re staying in a Residence Inn in Cambridge, right on the MIT campus.

No snow at this time, but plenty (too much) cold, blustery weather – mixture of rain and hail have made walking around a bit inconvenient.

We bought 5 umbrellas after to start our first day out – and lost 2 of them due to wind gusts within the first 20 minutes.

After that, you just get wet.

We visited the Boston Museum of Science.  These are the world’s largest Van Der Graaff generators.

We also caught a show at the Charles Hayden planetarium where Neil de Grasse Tyson is known to hang out.

After lunch, we hit a local mall – indoors, mind you, to spend the afternoon allowing the girls to do some clothes shopping.

The next day we headed to the sight of the Boston Tea party.  They have a museum there and allow folks to tour a remake of one of the 3 ships that was boarded by the rabble-rousing colonialists.

We didn’t get to dress up like Indians, but we did all get a feather.

We then went to a nearby Tea Shop where the girls got to sample each of the 5 different blends of tea that was thrown overboard in 1773.

This is pretty optimistic for the Socialist People’s Republik of Cambridge.

New Year’s performances already begun at First Night Boston 2020.  There will be fireworks in the harbor at midnight, but I’ll sleep right through it.
